About Ceceila:
I call Kansas City, MO my adopted home. I was raised in New York City, and relocated to KCMO from Denver, CO in 2002 when I was appointed Executive Director of the Kansas City Public School Retirement System, and where I served until 2007. I returned to Kansas City in 2013 after serving six years as Executive Director of Retirement for the City of Seattle (WA). I “retired” in 2022 to run for elected office in KCMO, following a career overseeing the administration, governance and investments for corporates, school districts, and municipalities’ pension plans. Now as a community volunteer, my devotion to Kansas City and public service continues with service on the Boards of the Kansas City Public School Retirement Board (where I now serve as President), the Kansas City Employees Retirement Board (KCMO), the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, the Missouri Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems, and as 1st Vice President of the Missouri Women’s Political Caucus.
A graduate of Boston College, where I learned to respect the importance and reward of being in service to others; and the responsibility of advocating and protecting those who cannot for themselves, I am proud to be a part of the inaugural Prom With A Purpose in support of KC Shepherd Center.
